Frozen is now the most successful animated film in history after launching in its final location, Japan.

The launch marked a long unveiling period dating back to 2013 when the children's film first hit the market. It has now totaled more than $1 billion in sales, according to Variety.com. The magic number to reach in sales was $1.063 billion, which was the record that was previously set by the popular Toy Story 3 film.

Compared to the classical Disney films, many people believed that this film differed slightly but still followed many typical Disney storylines. You can watch it on iTunes by clicking here.

"Allegorically, 'Frozen' lacks the purity and elemental power of a classic myth like 'Beauty and the Beast,' but at least its storytelling is fairly coherent, and its gleaming dream world of snow and ice is one of the most visually captivating environments to be found in a Disney animated film," Stephen Holden said in a review for the New York Times. "There are moments when you may feel that you are inside a giant crystal chandelier frosted with diamonds."

The film, which is complete with songs such as "Let It Go," takes place in a winter wonderland, and as such, it was released as the temperatures were dropping in the fall in the United States. With this considered, it will be interesting to see how the film does in popularity in the warmer months. Regardless, it will likely become even more popular yet again when the cooler months roll around the corner. Its immense popularity overall will probably even keep it relevant throughout the year, no matter what the season.
