‘Rainbow Six Siege’ Open Beta Delayed Due to Server Problems
"Rainbow Six Siege" fans anticipating the open beta would have to sit tight for a little bit more as developer Ubisoft announced the open beta's delay on the day it was supposed to be launched.
According to an official statement on the Ubisoft forums, the problems manifested on the matchmaking times and disconnection. As the "Rainbow Six Siege" was not working properly on all of the platforms, the team decided to postpone the open beta as they figure out and fix the nagging issues of the upcoming title.
"Game sessions are not starting properly and we've encountered server issues, leading to failed connections," a later update revealed. "We've identified the root issue that was introduced after the Technical Test while fixing a separate aspect of the game."
The developer stressed that correcting the problem requires a process that would definitely take time, but Ubisoft is working hard to do it. A fix is expected to land on Xbox One first, followed by PC and PlayStation 4 soon after.
Later, an additional update was posted saying, "As communicated with you today, we have performed a maintenance on XB1, PS4 and PC this afternoon. Some platforms are still under maintenance but we are working to complete them as quickly as we can. We will be monitoring how the fixes impact the game experience throughout the night."
While the open beta was delayed, Ubisoft is confident that the issues will be straightened out upon the "Rainbow Six Siege" launch. On the forums, the team pointed out that finding bugs like this is the reason for launching a beta period, so the official release will be smoother for players who have already bought the game.
Meanwhile, the closed beta is currently running despite the problems encountered in the different platforms.
A previous report from Latin Post revealed some of the features of the open beta that fans can look forward to soon. It's a follow-up to the closed beta that dropped on October, and the upcoming version will focus on testing matchmaking and online infrastructure.
The Ubisoft blog explained that more content will be included in the open beta, most notably new Russian Spetsnaz operators Tachanka armed with a mounted machine gun, and Glaz with a "very effective sniper rifle." Along with these playable characters, three entire maps are featured including the new Kanal Industrial Harbor map. The Competitive Multiplayer mode and the new Terrorist Hunt mode make the gameplay more exciting.
"Rainbow Six Siege" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is slated for release on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
