A new mid-range smartphone from LG has been released. LG Ray, a large-screened phone, comes with design similar to the LG G4.

Team Android noted that the LG Ray is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS display screen and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. However, the post noted that with this resolution specs, it is not impressive for a phone that has a screen size as big as the LG Ray.

But noting the notable features of the LG Ray, the post shared that it has a 13 MP primary camera which can also record videos of up to 1080p resolution.

GSM Arena also shared that the phone has an "impressive camera setup" for its price range. The selfie camera sports an 8MP lens sensor.

Talking about the price range, it was reported that it will be available in Russia for around $230 in US dollars or 15,000 RUB. But the GSM Arena's report cited the possibility that it will be available in other regions for a more budget-friendly price since the tech products in Russia are usually getting a large price hike.

As aforementioned, the LG Ray's design is mostly similar to the LG G4, sporting a brushed aluminum look on the back of the phone. The lock and volume buttons are placed below the camera, similar to the G series.

As for the LG Ray's power specs, the mid-tier smartphone is packed with a 3000 mAh battery, but GSM Arena's report noted that despite the battery capacity, it promises only 10 hours of talk time.

Under the hood, users will find a MediaTek MT6592M chipset paired with an octa-core processor. ZDNet further added that the LG Ray will sport 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Users who would like to increase memory capacity can use the microSD slot integrated into the phone.

Out of the box, the LG Ray will come pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop. A few of its features are taken from the flagship LG G series and these include the Gesture Shot and the Knock Code.

In terms of limitations, aside from its screen resolution, the LG Ray is basically designed for 3G connection, meaning LTE connectivity is not possible. The dual sim feature of the smartphone is also optional.

Here's a video featuring a first look for the LG Ray, as posted on Gadget Arena's Youtube account:
