PlayStation vs Xbox: Battle Heats Up As Sony Reveals PC Streaming, CPU Power for Devs
Just as Xbox released its biggest update for the latest generation console, Sony unleashes their share of new features that look to change the game and take the edge in the console race. Some of the upcoming updates that are coming to PlayStation 4 include streaming on the PC platform and giving developers CPU access, both significant additions that could lure more players to Sony.
According to a report from Techno Buffalo, Sony Computer Entertainment boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed the news of remote play of their console. In his Twitter account, Yoshida said, "Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac."
This is good news for the PlayStation 4 to rival Xbox One and PC on this front, since these platforms are already equipped to stream on the PC and television, respectively. As Sony takes this challenge, they are reaffirming their commitment to make the gaming experience more convenient than ever for new and existing players.
Furthermore, the company seems to be looking to deliver a better experience for the developers as well. Latest reports reveal that Sony will also be offering developers access to deeper processor resources in hopes of better and more powerful performance.
According to a report from Game Spot, the information was first revealed on the Beyond3D developer forums. The "newly unlocked seventh core" was developed in hopes of enhancing performance in games.
When Microsoft partially opened the Xbox One's seventh CPU core to developers, the move was credited with the higher quality of the latest games on the console. Now, Sony intends to do the same thing to widen the gap in resolution and frame rate between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
While the newest consoles from both Sony and Microsoft sport very similar 8-core processors upon its launch, the PlayStation 4 boast significant advantages over the Xbox One in a few respects, according to a report from Tech Insider. For one, the PlayStation 4 has a more powerful graphics chip as well as a greater RAM that means a great bandwidth advantage.
Could Sony inch even further ahead with its latest advancement?
Still, both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were able to make a dent during the Black Friday madness. A separate report from Game Spot revealed that the two consoles are among the top electronic items during the big sale, along with the Samsung 4K TVs, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini.
