Did Emma Watson Have Regrets Playing Hermione Granger in 'Harry Potter' Movies?
Did British actress Emma Watson have regrets playing the bookworm Hermione Granger in the hit "Harry Potter" movies?
Recently, the stunning lady who played the clever friend of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) shared to Vogue Italia that she did not like how her hair looked in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." However, it seemed that her hair was not the only thing she was not fond of.
The "Beauty and the Beast" star told Porter that she lived in the shadow of J.K. Rowling's beloved character in the book series that comprised seven books, Evening Standard reported.
"[I've] spent more than half of my life pretending to be someone else. While my contemporaries were dying their hair and figuring out who they were, I was figuring out who Hermione was and how best to portray her," Watson said.
Watson indicated that she missed out on her own personal life by focusing too much on Granger. The young celebrity played the part of the charming young witch for all eight film installments of the saga. The first part of the series, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," was aired in 2001 and the finale, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," was released in 2011. Indeed, Watson spent more than 10 years of her life playing the part of Granger.
It is only now that she's enjoying the real version of herself, shared the actress.
"Now at 25 for the first time in my life I feel like I have a sense of self that I'm comfortable with. I actually do have things that I want to say and I want to be my most authentic self," Watson stated.
Still, the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador may not truly resent being the actress behind Granger.
In her interview with Vogue Italia, she seemed appreciative of everything she went through. She described following the journey from where she started as "pleasant."
Aside from that, she had lasting friendship she gained from the actors she worked with while filming it like Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom).
Radcliffe told Mirror in 2012 that he and Watson "text all the time."
Lewis and Watson's friendship is also evident on Twitter.
Could anyone imagine another actress playing the part instead of Watson?
