Sony Xperia Z2 Update: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom ROM Released for 2014 Flagship Smartphone
Sony Xperia Z2 receives Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via a custom ROM. NanoPop firmware is now available for the 2014 flagship device from Sony.
The report from Team Android provided the detailed instructions on how to safely install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on Sony Xperia Z2. Accordingly, the custom ROM brings in a full fix to Stagefright as well as other features.
NanoPop ROM for the Sony Xperia Z2 is pre-rooted and bloatware-free, the report also noted. Furthermore, users can expect a stable and smooth performance of the device upon installation of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM.
But since this is going to be an unofficial update for the Sony Xperia Z2, handset owners should be aware that warranties available for the device will automatically be canceled. In case anything undesirable happens to the Sony Xperia Z2, it will not be the responsible of the manufacturer.
A proper backup of all the data and settings stored on the device is also necessary before heading to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop via the NanoPop ROM. Team Android shared that Sony Xperia Z2 users can make a backup using Sony PC Companion app.
Another way to back up all the essential files is through the use of custom recovery tools which makes a complete image of the present set up of the smartphone. Recommended tools are ClockWorkMod and TWRP.
Before proceeding to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on Sony Xperia Z2, users need to make sure first that USB Debugging Mode is enabled. Furthermore, battery level should be at least 80% to avoid power interruption issues during the process that could further lead to phone getting bricked or permanently damaged.

Released on April of last year, the Sony smartphone has 5.2-inch IPS LCS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The phone also boasts of IP58 certification, making it dust proof and water resistant, the specs list for Sony Xperia Z2 on GSM Arena noted.
At launch, the smartphone came pre-installed with Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. Currently, it is officially upgradable only to version 5.0 .2 of Android Lollipop. But the phone is expected to receive the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon.
