Homeless Man Breaks Into Selena Gomez's Los Angeles Home
Selena Gomez got a not-so-welcome home present a few days ago -- she was at the receiving end of a home invasion and robbery in her just-purchased Calabasas home!
According to USA Today, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested 20-year-old homeless man Che Cruz after he was found in the "Come and Get It" singer's guesthouse. Selena was home at the time he was found in the house.
Cruz, who is being held on $50,000 bail (and there's no word on whether he's retained an attorney), was discovered by Selena's security, whom she called when she heard a noise in the guesthouse. Security subsequently called the police and had him arrested.
Furthermore, according to TMZ, he was on the premises earlier in the day when he knocked on the singer's main house door and asked if she was home (a friend answered at the time, and said that she wasn't before slamming the door in his face).
Despite her early comments of a musical hiatus, Gomez confirmed in October 2012 that she was working on her solo debut album. The lead single, "Come & Get It," was released in April 2013. It became her first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. The album's second single, "Slow Down," was released in June. Gomez has since announced plans of a second musical hiatus following the release of Stars Dance in July. Outside of her work in the entertainment industry, Gomez is involved in philanthropic activities through charity work and various social and environmental causes.
Gomez names Bruno Mars as her major musical influence and idol, saying she is influenced in everything he does from "his style of music, his style in general, the way he performs, the way he carries himself." Gomez also cites Beyoncé and Rihanna as influences. Gomez's debut solo album Stars Dance (2013) was prominently influenced by singers Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Skrillex.
