The holidays are fast approaching and Xbox is on board to make the season even merrier for their gamers. Not only is Microsoft releasing a slew of free games for the Xbox Live Gold subscribers, but it has also been revealed that Xbox One games can be streamed on the HoloLens.

According to a report from GameSpot, Microsoft announced the lineup of free games available with their Games With Gold program. The whole month of December will see a bunch of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games offered to subscribers. The titles for the previous generation console will be available on Xbox One as well through the backwards compatibility feature.

The action role-playing game "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing" leads the pack as the only Xbox One title available the entire month of December. Other Xbox One titles offered for free are the fighter game "Knight Squad" available from Nov. 16 to Dec. 15, and "Thief" available on Dec. 16, 2015 to Jan. 15, 2016.

The Xbox 360 lineup is also something the long-time gamers can look forward to with "CastleStorm" available for free from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15, and "Sacred 3" and "Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising" coming after on Dec. 16-31.

In other Xbox news, it has recently been revealed that the favorite games may now be streamed from Xbox One to the Microsoft HoloLens, according to a report from PC World.

The hologram gear was confirmed to be able to support Xbox One streaming when Microsoft HoloLens program manager Varun Mani posted a video on YouTube demonstrating that it can be done. The executive was shown playing the best-selling game "Halo 5: Guardians" -- first on his wall-mounted television screen and then against the wall projected by his HoloLens augmented reality headset.

The reported Xbox One streaming on the Microsoft device does not translate to being able to play the games in a 360-degree reality, which would be a fantastic way to play. What the feature allows is a projection of a screen in front of the player, as if the user is in front of an actual television screen.

This is also likely at a slightly lower resolution and fidelity, but a convenient tool nonetheless. While some quality is sacrificed, the ability to stream on HoloLens means gamers will be more flexible and able to play anywhere there's a WiFi signal.
