Sony Xperia Z3 Update: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom Firmware Now Available
Users of Sony's 2014 flagship smartphone can now experience the latest Lollipop goodies. Android custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now available for Sony Xperia Z3.
A post on Team Android revealed that the Android 5.1.1 MX ROM has been released for Sony Xperia Z3. Aside from the features and other perks found on the latest Android Lollipop version, users who will use the custom ROM can also experience the visual enhancements brought by features from the Sony Xperia Z5, Sony's newest flagship smartphone.
According to the report, the MX ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop features the wallpapers, themes and widgets available for the Xperia Z5. The custom ROM also offers a stable and fast performance.
Since this is not an official release, Team Android cautioned the users installing any type of custom Android ROM will automatically void the warranties available for the smartphone. This means that in case anything undesirable happen to the smartphone during the update process, the company manufacturer will not be held responsible for it.
Meanwhile, Sony Xperia Z3 users willing to try the MX ROM should be aware of various requirements needed to ensure a successful and smooth installation procedure. First and the easiest one to do, Xperia Z3 owners need to check that the battery level of their handset is at least 80 percent to avoid any power interruptions while the update is ongoing.
A reliable recovery tool is also important before installing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop via MX ROM to Sony Xperia Z3. Installing a custom ROM on any device will likely wipe clean the phone's memory, thus, users are required to create a backup of the data and settings stored on the device. .
ClockWorkMod (CWM) or TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP) are two of the highly-recommended recovery tools for people looking to update their device via a custom firmware. Moreover, USB Debugging mode of the Sony smartphone should be enabled as well before flashing MX ROM to Xperia Z3.
