Becky G revealed that she was just as surprised as her fans to learn about her involvement with the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie, since she had no idea that it was the part of the yellow ranger she had auditioned for.

In an interview with Time, the pop singer explained that she "geeked out" when she got the news because she had no idea that her audition was for the popular franchise.

The singer explained that her agent sent her the information about the role. But since the singer was on tour at the time, she told her agent she couldn't do it. Her agent insisted and asked the "Break A Sweat" singer to record the lines.

It wasn't until after Becky G sent in the lines that her agent revealed the exact role to her.

"I was excited! And when I was reading the lines, it felt cool, like the character," the star said. "Later, she tells me that the director saw it and that he loved it and he would like to meet me...It was between me and a couple other people, but I got the call that I was going to be the yellow Power Ranger. It just felt so right. Yellow is my favorite color, so I was like this is meant to be."

While her guest roles on Disney's "Austin & Ally" and on "Empire" may still be small compared to her growing music career, the teenage star explained that acting has always been important to her and a big passion, reported Vibe.

When she got signed to a record label, the 18-year-old decided to put acting on the back burner to establish herself musically first, "just to earn that respect as a songwriter and as a performer, and then when the time was right, trickle into the acting thing."

"I had always loved it [acting], but I'm not trained. I think that kind of just comes with experience," she added.

The "Power Rangers" film, set for a 2017 release, will begin filming in Vancouver, Canada next year.
