The first "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" virtual reality experience is now available. The virtual reality content will require a Google Cardboard attachment.

This virtual reality application for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the first of nine total clips planned from Google and Star Wars, Tech Radar reports.

In order to view the special one-minute virtual reality clip, users will need a Google Cardboard attachment and a compatible smartphone. Users will also need the "Star Wars" app.

Verizon customers can head to a retail store and purchase a special "Star Wars" themed Google Cardboard device. All other customers can purchase the device directly from Google's website.

Once users open up the app, they will see a new section called Jakku Spy, the first episode which was opened up Wednesday morning. Users can then download the clip, at which point they will be prompted with a countdown to apply their Google Cardboard attachment to their smartphone.

In the first clip, viewers will see the BB-8 droid in the Jakku world and the golden crawl performed in virtual reality.

Beyond the app, Google and "Star Wars" have launched a partnership that includes a new website, which will ask users to pick between the dark side and the light side. Their choice will determine how their Google app and services look.

The virtual reality clips were developed by Lucasfilm's ILMxLAB, the augmented reality and virtual reality team of Industrial Light and Magic, along with the film's creators.

Eight more virtual reality experiences are on the way. Every couple of days, a new experience will debut, until the movie is released on Dec. 18.

Google Cardboard is a cheap attachment available for smartphones. The device costs about $20.
