Shelby Miller of the Atlanta Braves is one of the most in-demand starting pitchers in the trade market of the current MLB offseason. The latest team to discuss a possible deal for the right-hander are the San Francisco Giants.

Last month, Buster Olney of ESPN reported that the Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks are interested in trading for the 25-year-old pitcher. The Diamondbacks backed out of the talks when the Braves wanted center fielder A.J. Pollock in return.

There are no reported discussions between the Dodgers and Atlanta, but the Giants have reportedly discussed a deal that involves third baseman Matt Duffy and second baseman Joe Panik, per the Boston Globe. The San Francisco are said to be interested in Miller and Julio Teheran as the 2014 World Series champions are looking to bolster their rotation.

The 25-year-old Duffy had a great rookie season, finishing in second-place behind the Chicago Cubs' Kris Bryant in the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year voting. He hit 12 home runs and 77 RBIs with a .295 batting average and great defense at third, per Baseball Reference. Duffy is also a valuable asset in terms of being under team control as he isn't eligible to become a free agent until 2021.

Panik had a great season of his own in 2015 despite being limited to just 100 games due to a back injury. He hit eight home runs and 37 RBIs with a .312 batting average and very good defense at second base, per Baseball Reference. Just like Duffy, Panik is only 25 years old and under team control until 2021, which is why Giants executives Bobby Evans and Brian Sabean don't want to deal the duo.

As for Miller, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports has noted that at least 20 teams have inquired about the 25-year-old pitcher the past few weeks, but the Braves' asking price for him is too high. The New York Yankees were asked to give up young prospect Luis Severino while Marcell Ozuna and other prospects were wanted from the Miami Marlins.

Even though Miller finished the season with a disappointing record of 6-17, he has a 3.02 ERA that was 12th best in the majors while also pitching 205.1 innings and striking out 171 batters, per Baseball Reference. The Braves lineup just did not have enough run support, leading to a 24-straight winless starts in his first season in Atlanta before winning his final start.

The Giants are also reportedly in a battle with the Dodgers for the signature of free agent pitcher, Zack Greinke. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Greinke is close to deciding between the two clubs and a five or a six-year deal is expected to be signed.
