There was a lot of drama in the 90s, but none quite so paramount as the live O.J. Simpson murder trial. Now, FX has serialized that drama into a new show titled "American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson," and released the first trailer for it.

According to Deadline, the dramatic series follows the events that played out in 1994, when the infamous car chase and murder trial took place. However, the series takes a look at what did not get shown to audiences at large. Behind the public events, insider politics ultimately led to Simpson's acquittal and subsequent status as a social pariah.

This series will be based on the real life individuals who took part in the trial. Those include the late Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance), the late Robert Kardashian (David Schwimmer), Marcia Clark (Sarah Paulson), Christopher Darden (Sterling K. Brown), Robert Shapiro (John Travolta) and Faye Resnick (Connie Britton). Cuba Gooding Jr. will be portraying Simpson.

Although the series will portray the events that played out on TV in a small part, the real depth of the story will come from the insiders of the trial and those who shaped its outcome.

Viewers may have watched the live chase on TV, when Simpson and a close friend took off in a white Ford Bronco, but they could not have seen the immense pressure the case received from many sides due to his celebrity status and the issues of race involved.

The series will examine the strategies used by the defense and the prosecution to bring the crime to justice. Meanwhile, contemporary social issues influence events, including the LAPD's reputation for unfairly targeting African-Americans.
