A few months after the arrival of the latest Note phablet, the rumor mill for its successor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6, begins to churn out interesting details. Reportedly, latest patent acquired by Samsung could suggest possible functionalities of the purported device.

The report from Android Pit noted that that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 might be a laptop hybrid device. Referred to as a 'phabtop,' an amalgamation of the term 'phablet' and laptop, the report explained that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 would suit perfectly into a laptop dock.

This initial rumor about the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 was based on the Samsung patent found by Patently Mobile, which is related to a new dual OS hybrid device. "A Samsung Galaxy Note, for instance, would naturally run Android when in smartphone mode," the report explained.

"When the Note smartphone is docked inside a notebook-like shell companion component, it would automatically switch to running the Windows operating system, such as Windows 10."

If this detail about the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is to be believed, UberGizmo further shared that this idea is not new at all, as other tech companies introduced something like this already. For instance, several years ago, ASUS Padfone was unveiled, where the device is a combination of a tablet and a smartphone.

"The smartphone acts as the 'heart' and 'brains' of the tablet, which is more or less a shell," the report shared.

Going back to Samsung Galaxy Note 6, Android Pit pointed out that for the South Korean tech giant to pull this off, they will have to make the 'phablet' a powerful machine. "The Note series has always focused on multi-tasking and productivity, and packed in a lot of power to handle the strain, but nonetheless, this is a big step up," the post noted.

As for the release date, it is still too early to expect an official announcement from Samsung, given the recent release of Galaxy Note 5. However, Android Pit's report is suggesting a mid to late 2016 as a feasible launch timeframe of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6.
