A lightning bolt struck the U.S. Army base at Fort Gordon, Georgia. A spokesperson for the base said that the lightning strike killed one U.S. Army Reserve soldier, and also injured nine others.
Lighting strikes sparked wildfires across Northern California on Wednesday, scorching large acres of sun-parched land. Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate, officials said.
