Women are truly fabulous and as Latinas we value the bonds with the women in our lives especially our mothers and grandmothers. Not only have they helped paved the way for us, but they continue to drive us to be better and reach for the stars.
On March 25, P&G Orgullosa's forum "Nueva Latinas Living Fabulosa," held at The TimesCenter in New York, not only celebrated the beautiful modern, bicultural Latina experience, but it was a tribute to our roots and the women who are the gateway to our cultures.
Fresh off of promoting the Netflix hit, "Orange Is the New Black "Season 3 in Mexico City, Alma Award-winning actress and proud Afro-Caribeña Selenis Leyva is a force to be reckoned with and she's bringing her fierce acting skills to HBO's "VEEP."
On Wednesday night, Gina Rodriguez, Angie Martinez, Lilliana Vazquez, Nina Terrero and "OITNB" Stars Diane Guerrero and Selenis Leyva together with P&G's Orgullosa program celebrated its newest initiative, 'Living Fabulosa' (living fabulously). It's a continuation of its Nueva Latina campaign, "which highlights the unique and complex experience of the modern, bicultural Latina -- the Nueva Latina."
With the holidays upon us, families gather for Christmas, Chanukah and New Year's to celebrate and ring in a New Year of new possibilities, resolutions and hope for change. But the sad fact is that many families have been separated and deported due to a broken immigration system, thus making the holidays bittersweet for many, including "Orange Is The New Black" and "Jane The Virgin" star Diane Guerrero.
The government may have unceremoniously killed net neutrality and cable providers may be clamping down on Netflix's bandwidth usage, but at least fans of the site still have "Orange is the New Black" to look forward too.
