'Fifty Shades Darker' News Update: Will Ellie Goulding Return For Sequels?
The studio behind "Fifty Shades of Grey" is having quite a week as the film begins to prep for production.
The big news that came for the franchise was that it was nominated for a Golden Globe. After receiving terrible reviews it was never expected that the franchise would even be in the awards conversation. However thanks to Ellie Goulding's popular song "Love Me like You Do," written for the movie, "Fifty Shades of Grey" now has the distinction of being a Golden Globe nominee. The movie will also compete against other franchise films including "Furious 7" and "Spectre." The other two nominees are from Indie films 'Youth" and "Love and Mercy."
While Goulding is unlikely to win, this will bring more exposure to the franchise. It will also be interesting to see if after this nomination she can repeat at the Oscars as Goulding's song has qualified for the Oscars. It will also be interesting to see if she will be contracted for "Fifty Shades Darker."
"Fifty Shades Darker" is heading into production in a few weeks and Dakota Johnson has already revealed that she will go blonde for the upcoming role. Whether it is motivated by the director is unknown. However, this is a change from the book, as Anastasia Steele has brown locks.
Casting is currently happening with many stars rumored to appear in the film. Charlize Theron and Michelle Pfeiffer are among the rumored actresses that could appear in the new film. Henry Cavill has also been rumored for the film but nothing is yet confirmed.
Jamie Dornan is set to return as Christian Grey while James Foley will direct the next two installments of the franchise. Meanwhile, E.L. James will produce the film and her husband Niall Leonard will write the next two scripts. "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" will be filled consecutively and are slated for 2017 and 2018.
