Although it has been speculated on for a while, Hideo Kojima's exit from Konami grabbed the headlines as the end of an iconic era. Teaming up with his former colleagues in Konami, the acclaimed creator of "Metal Gear" is now speaking up in a message to the fans in the recently launched website of his new independent studio Kojima Productions.

According to a report from Game Spot, the studio has also unveiled its logo designed by another "Metal Gear" graduate: character artist Yoji Shinkawa. While no official confirmation has been released by the studio on its members, it's likely Shinkawa has joined the group as well.

Kojima's message to gamers everywhere conveyed the philosophy and vision of the newly established Kojima Productions. He addressed it to "Homo Ludens" or "Those who play," and waxed poetic on the creation process of gaming.

"'Playing' is not simply a pastime, it is the primordial basis of imagination and creation," Kojima wrote in the brief but powerful letter. "Truth be told, Homo Ludens (Those who Play) are simultaneously Homo Faber (Those who Create). Even if the earth were stripped of life and reduced to a barren wasteland, our imagination and desire to create would survive -- beyond survival, it would provide hope that flowers may one day bloom again. Through the invention of play, our new evolution awaits."

He concluded, "Kojima Productions -- We are Homo Ludens. We are those who play."

Aside from the founder's message, the website also contained a list of job opportunities currently available. From artists to programmers, there are plenty of openings offered that suggested Kojima Productions is ready to begin operations.

It's a good thing the studio seems to be itching to get started as it has already committed to a high-profile project alongside Sony PlayStation.

According to a report from GameSided, Kojima appeared in a YouTube video with Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Andrew House to announce a partnership with the top-selling gaming company.

"I'm happy to let you know that I have established my own independent studio today," Kojima said in the video announcement. "And I'm excited to tell you that the first title from this new studio is a collaboration with PlayStation. I'm thrilled to embark on creating a new franchise with PlayStation that will give you all a new and innovative gaming experience, so please stay tuned."

No other details have been confirmed, but the fans are already buzzing about the possibilities. Are you looking forward to this new title from PlayStation and Kojima?
