The last Xbox One update, dubbed the New Xbox One Experience, changed the game in more ways than one. The next patch is not likely to be quite as massive as the last one, but it might include a key addition that the fans have been requesting: a party feature.

According to a report from Ubergizmo, this new feature allows players to take a peek at a party before joining it, and see the other players already in the party. While a small addition, it's certainly a cool perk that could go a long way in gaming experience.

Xbox executive Mike Ybarra confirmed the upcoming feature in his Twitter account by posting a teaser video that showed how exactly the feature is going to be accessed. There will likely be more changes and tweaks to the final process, but there's a good chance it will make the upcoming updates since the team has already made it public.

Following the New Xbox One Experience last November, only a minor system update has been released. According to an episode of Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's podcast via Dual Shockers, the team didn't plan a major update for December and January for stability during the peak holiday season. Instead, the next big update is coming in February.

In the podcast, Ybarra also discussed the lauded backwards compatibility feature that came with the last update. He explained the time it took to develop the feature and said, "Two years later, I think the team is really proud of what they're doing, and now it's just a matter of people voting and making sure that publishers know that they want certain games in the program."

The competition among the consoles has made the challenges greater, but Xbox continues its strides for innovation with its exclusive games and game-changing features. While all-in-one devices emerge as a threat to displace consoles someday, Xbox boss Phil Spencer assured the long-time players that the company has no plans of abandoning the console business in a previous interview with The Verge.

There have been much buzz about the supposed "Xbox Two". While none of the reports have been confirmed, the head of Xbox merely said, "I fully expect that you'll see another console from us."

He added, "Our best customers are Xbox console customers, and I want to keep those people engaged both on the Xbox One and anything we might do in the future. I'm 100 percent committed to that."

"I don't want to dilute what the Xbox console customer feels," Spencer concluded. "I want to expand what we're able to do for more customers."
