‘Supernatural’ Season 11 Episode 15 Spoilers: See Sam, Dean Indulge Their Love for Wrestling in ‘Beyond the Mat’
It's not that difficult to imagine a young Sam and Dean Winchester enjoying watching the sport of wrestling with their father. In the next episode of "Supernatural," the audience will get a glimpse of their love for it as they venture ringside for a match -- and end up stumbling on a supernatural case. WWE winner Mike "The Miz" Mizanin even shows up as a guest star in "Beyond the Mat."
The synopsis for episode 15 revealed that Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) will pay their respects in the funeral of an old wrestler they used to enjoy watching back as kids.
Their war against the Darkness will take a backseat for now as they wind up meeting a whole bunch of wrestlers, attending a high-octane match and seeing another athlete end up dead.
Aside from The Miz, guest star Aleks Paunovic will be part of the episode as a veteran wrestler. "Beyond the Mat" was directed by Jerry Wanek, while John Bring and Andrew Dabb wrote the script.
The promo for the episode has also been released, showing Lucifer in Castiel's body (Misha Collins) facing off against the disgruntled Crowley (Mark Sheppard).
It's jarring to see the angelic Castiel being subjected to the Lucifer treatment, but it also adds an interesting twist to the season's arc against the bigger bad: Darkness. In a recent interview, Collins spilled the beans on playing the fallen angel for the first time.
"The biggest challenge is that Mark Pellegrino has played this character so well that to follow in his footsteps is kind of embarrassing," he admitted. "And I'm glad that they've given me some good meat to work with for later, so it's been a lot of fun."
Meanwhile, speaking about Castiel being stuck inside of Lucifer's head, Collins shared, "You're gonna see a little bit of what's going on with Castiel in episode 18."
Castiel is not the only powerful being from heaven set to make waves in a future episode of "Supernatural." Rob Benedict will be coming back to the show on episode 20, in the role of Chuck -- believed to be the Almighty Creator.
With God's sister the Darkness wrecking havoc on earth, is it possible that the Creator will be lending a hand in putting her back in her prison?
"Supernatural" season 11 episode 15 is slated to air on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. CT on The CW.
