"Resident Evil" is getting the re-release treatment with the franchise's 20th anniversary underway and three previous series games making their way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Developer Capcom is getting "Resident Evil 4," "5" and "6" on the latest consoles, allowing a new generation of horror and gaming enthusiasts to enjoy one of the most iconic titles around.

"In March 1996, the world was introduced to the first 'Resident Evil' game, which helped shape survival horror as we know it and has since brought you some of the most loved games of all time," Capcom wrote on the website.

The company is celebrating two decades of the horror series by bringing back the games, starting with "Resident Evil 6" on March 29. As a bonus, even the additional post-launch content from the console version are all available in the new release.

"Resident Evil 5" will follow with a release in summer 2016 then "Resident Evil 4" in fall 2016. All three games are confirmed to be priced at $19.99 each. Both physical units and digital versions are available at the same cost.

The franchise is one of Capcom's iconic series that has spanned decades and across media, and fan support has waned very little since its inception. Because of this, Capcom has been re-releasing versions of the fan favorite titles in the "Resident Evil" series, including the much-anticipated upcoming remake of "Resident Evil 2."

"You've been telling us for years that you want 'Resident Evil 2' to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen... until now," Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said in a video last year. "We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."

Although Capcom was just only beginning the development of the upcoming remake, the company expressed their appreciation for the feedback and support from the fans regarding the project.

Remakes have become a good avenue for Capcom in recent years. In a financial briefing last year, the company even highlighted HD remasters of their previous best-sellers as part of their business focus in the future.

"It is not a risk but rather the growth of the download sales channel gives users more options," Capcom revealed during the briefing. "We regard this as growth in opportunities to have allow access for more people to enjoy our games."
