Search Engine Market Share Wars in 2016: Google vs Yahoo vs Bing Latest Rankings for US Desktop Queries
Google topped comScore Inc.'s explicit core search market for the month of February 2016 with 64 percent of all US desktop search queries.
Figures were recently released showing Google easily topped Microsoft Sites (21.4 percent of all queries) for top honors. Overall, market share was up 0.2 percent for Google over the monitored time-frame, compared to 0.1 percent for Microsoft.
Yahoo Sites placed third in analysis at 12.2 percent, followed by Ask Network and AOL Inc., at 1.6 and 0.9 percent, respectively.
Nearly 17 Billion Searches Conducted Over February
Overall, nearly 17 billion explicit core searches were conducted over the month of February, with Google Sites again ranking first at 10.8 billion. Over that same time, Microsoft registered 3.6 billion searches, followed by Yahoo at 2 billion, Ask Network at 273 million and AOL at 145 million.
That same month, 64 percent of searches carried organic search results from Google, an 0.2 percent rise from the polls last release. Up next was Bing, which carried out 32.8 percent of all such searches.
Google Also Tops in Online Activity Among Digital Outlets
In conjunction with Media Metrix, comScore also recently released monthly rankings for U.S. online activity among digital companies, with Google again ranking No. 1 among multi-platform properties with 243. 6 million unique visitors across desktop and mobile.
Facebook rated No. 2 at 206.5 million uniques, followed by Yahoo and Microsoft at 204.4 million and 198.8 million, respectively.
Google also ranked as the top desktop property with more than 200 million visitors for the month of February.
