Amanda Bynes' Parents Request Conservatorship in Court
After a week of drama and another police bust, Amanda Bynes' parents are taking matters into their own hands already. Reports reveal that the star's parents are seeking to take over Amanda's financial and personal affairs.
According to E! Online, Byne's parents Rick and Lynn will be filing for a temporary conservatorship on Friday morning over their troubled daughter. If a judge grants the request, the star's parents will be legally in-charge of her estate, depending on how long the court sees fit.
Mr. and Mrs. Bynes' decision to file for the request comes after more troubling behavior by Amanda. Earlier this week, the 27-year-old actress was detained under a psychiatric hold after she reportedly set fire on a house garage at Thousand Oaks, Calif. While Amanda was not charged with any crime, she was placed under a 5150 involuntary hold as she was suspected to have a mental illness and poses a threat to herself and others.
TMZ reports that Rick and Lynn have wanted to take action over their daughter's behavior for months now. However, they needed proof for a judge to allow a conservatorship, and so far "Amanda's conduct was not so over the line that a judge would take away her freedom," the report noted. But with her recent conduct, the judge may have basis to allow the request.
Moreover, another by TMZ says the former Nickelodeon star has been showing signs of schizophrenia.
Sources with knowledge of the situation tell TMZ ... doctors have already determined Amanda is suffering from a severe mental illness "with schizophrenic tendencies." We're told she's aware "there's a good Amanda and a bad Amanda." When she talks about the bad Amanda she almost mimics an exorcism, pulling at her body as if to remove the demon, and even biting herself.
With all this to consider, the court may not be far from granting another Britney Spears-esque decision.
