Top 9 Smartphones to Skip Android 7.0 Nougat, Jumps to 7.1.1 Update
Good news for Android Nougat users. Here is the list of smartphones that will skip Android 7.0 Nougat and jump directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
Google Pixel
The new Android 7.0 Nougat has been pre-loaded on the new Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones. It is currently available to download on Google-built mobile devices like the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Google Pixel C, and the Nexus Player, reports have noted.
Huawei
Huawei has officially confirmed that it will be releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat for the Huawei P9 and Huawei Mate 8 in early 2017. As of now, the only Huawei smartphone that has the updated Android Nougat OS is the Huawei Mate 9.
Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. also announced an update for Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei Nova, Huawei Nova Pus and Huawei P9 Lite in late 2017. However, the Chinese manufacturer is yet to confirm whether the Huawei P8 or Mate S will get the upgrade to EMUI 5.0.
HTC
HTC has already confirmed it will be bringing Android 7.0 Nougat update to the HTC 10, One A9 and One M9 before 2016 concludes.
LG
LG smartphones technically joined the Android Nougat OS in early September 2016. It also served as the Korean multinational electronics company launched its very first Android Nougat phone.
Motorola
The release of Android 7.0 Nougat to the Moto Z and Moto G smartphones was first announced by Motorola in the fourth quarter of this year. However, the OS update arrived at the Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets in November. Many people wondering when the company will finally roll out the Nougat update to the Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Play.
OnePlus
Android 7.0 Nougat will be available to OnePlus 3 soon. However, there is no official announcement yet on when the new update will come. According to reports, the new OnePlus 3T currently runs on Android Marshmallow, but the company promised to update to Android Nougat by the end of this year.
Samsung
Samsung smartphones brought Android 7.0 Nougat to its flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on November 9, 2016.
The said flagship models will reportedly skip over the Android 7.0 Nougat update and jump directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Since the Samsung Group is going directly to the Android 7.1.1 for its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, it's highly likely that the Korean electronics giant will release the same update for Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Plus, and Galaxy Note 5.
Sony
Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ have both started to get Android 7.0 Nougat. Recently, Sony Corporation officially announced that Xperia Z3 will probably receive the developer edition of Android Nougat soon.
ZTE
Chinese handset manufacturer ZTE has officially announced the Android 7.0 Nougat update to its smartphones, according to an official ZTE news announcement. Right now, there still no words on Nougat official release date.
On a lighter note, ZTE promised that Axon 7 will be a Daydream virtual reality-ready device soon. This means that ZTE Axon 7 will make the transition from Android Marshmallow to Android Nougat 7.0 after the VR-focused Android 7.1.1 update started to be available in December, reports have learned.
Android 7.0 Nougat is Google's latest OS (operating system). This Android update is available to some of the world's major smartphones, which include Google Pixel, Sony, Samsung, LG, HTC, Huawei, OnePlus, ZTE, and finally Motorola.
