Antonio Cesaro defeated Kofi Kingston to kick off Friday Night Smackdown after Kingston attempted a leap off the top rope only to catch a European Uppercut from Cesaro while in midair. After the match, Cesaro hit Kingston with The Neutralizer, sending a message to United States Champion Sheamus, whom Cesaro is facing at Payback.
WWE Divas Champion Paige defeated Tamina via submission with the Scorpion Crosslock in a non-title match despite the fact that Alicia Fox, who handed the young champion her first loss last week on Raw, attempted to distract Paige during the bout, only to have her plan backfire.
Bo Dallas, who has been on a slight roll winning his first couple of bouts since debuting on the WWE's main roster, beat Xavier Woods after Dallas caught Woods with his Bo-Dog finisher.
El Torito made it 3-0 against the members of 3MB, defeating Jinder Mahal in singles competition, wrestling without his tail, which was taken away from him by Hornswoggle and 3MB during Monday Night Raw.
In a non-title Champion versus Champion match, United States Champion Sheamus came out victorious over Intercontinental Champion "Bad News" Wade Barrett after Barrett was hit with the Brogue Kick to eat the loss. After the bout was over, Sheamus attacked Cesaro's manager, Paul Heyman, who was doing commentary during the bout.
Big E Langston defeated Titus O'Neil in a quick match but not before Alexander Rusov and Lana came out, trashing the United States, as they watched the bout from ringside. Big E pinned O'Neil after hitting him with his Big Ending finisher, moving on to a potential showdown with Rusov at Payback.
Jack Swagger finally got the opportunity to get his hands on Adam Rose, only to meet defeat after weeks of getting annoyed by Rose, his "Rose Buds," and the "Exotic Express." Rose nailed his Party Foul finisher to take home the victory.
In preparation for his Last Man Man Standing match against John Cena, Bray Wyatt defeated Jimmy Uso -- one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions -- in a Last Man Standing match, beating Uso down in front of the announcers table and talking down to him before putting champion out of his misery to end the show.
