Larry J. Cano, a fighter pilot during World War II who in 1954 took over a Polynesian Tiki bar/restaurant in Encino that he had been managing and transformed it into the first El Torito restaurant, passed away on Wednesday at his home in Corona del Mar at the age of 90.
