South Pasadena Police Department released footage of the officer-involved shooting death of ER star Vanessa Marquez on Monday.

Authorities said the officers were called to the scene for a routine welfare check. The department decided to release the footage to the public about what happened at the scene.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office also released its findings after a lengthy investigation. The office exonerated the officers who shot Marquez, ruling they were acted in "lawful self-defense." Both officers will not face charges.

The video shows every moment that led to the 49-year-old actress' tragic ending. The video is somewhat graphic and may trigger thoughts and emotions. We highly advise viewers to take caution.

The officers were called to the actress' home after an out-of-state relative called the fire department expressing deep concern for Marquez's well-being.

Authorities who arrived at her home had a hard time getting into the house which was in extreme disarray due to hoarding conditions.

Marquez cried about having a 'seizure' when officers found her in bed. She also begged them not to take her to the hospital.

Officers described Marquez as "possibly suffering from mental health issues" and "uncooperative."

The policemen called paramedics and a mental health clinician who determined she needed to be hospitalized.

Officers informed Vanessa she would be transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital and placing her on a 5150 psychiatric hold until she is evaluated by a mental health professional.

Marquez was heard saying "Oh my God, no," before she pulled a handgun from her purse.

"Kill me," she said.

The officers backed out of her room and down the staircase in an effort to de-escalate the situation.

Vanessa emerged at the top of the stairs and pursued the authorities until they were forced to fire on her.

It was after her death that the pistol was determined to be a BB gun designed to look like a 'Beretta 92FS firearm.'

Marquez's mother Delia Mcelfresh filed a 'wrongful death' lawsuit against the police department in February 2019.

Who was Vanessa Marquez?

Marquez was a California native born on December 21, 1968. She was known for her role in the 1988 film 'Stand and Deliver' where she played as Ana Delgado. She took a three-hour bus trip both ways to audition for the role.

She went on to star in more films and television works such as the 1993 movie 'Blood In, Blood Out' and popular 1992 program 'Melrose Place.'

She was featured in 27 episodes of hit NBC medical drama as Nurse Wendy Goldman.

Vanessa also appeared on the A&E reality series 'Intervention'. The show was aiming to help her overcome problems such as 'a severe shopping addiction', depression, OCD, and other psychological problems. She was also reportedly suffering from eating disorders.

In October of 2019, Marquez was claimed she was blacklisted from the show ER after she complained of racial discrimination and sexual harassment involving George Clooney.

Vanessa wrote on Twitter: "Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up about harassment on ER. 'Women who don't play the game lose career' I did." The allegation led to a drop in her career.

Clooney denied the allegation by releasing a statement where he claimed he never had a connection to the show other than being an actor.

"If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to," he said. "The fact that I couldn't affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn't."
