President Trump Announces Strict Guidelines to Combat COVID-19
President Donald Trump released new guidelines on Monday that include closing schools and limits gatherings of more than 10 people to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
Coronavirus cases in the United States continue to swell and many remained undetected. Infectious diseases experts believed that for every one person positive for COVID-19, around five to 10 people are walking around the community undetected.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy together with the task force members said that the recommendation for strict guidelines will help slow down the spread of the virus. It is expected to take place in place in 15 days.
In a recently published article, Trump said: "It seems to me if we do a really good job, we'll not only hold the death down to a level that's much lower than the other way had we not done a good job, but people are talking about July, August."
The president also mentioned that if everyone makes this change by following the guidelines and make some sacrifices by staying at home and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people, he believes that the country will defeat the virus, which will later on call for a big celebration.
Moreover, Pres. Trump also told a group of governors that they should try to get their own ventilators and not wait for the federal government to fill the growing demand of the respirators that are needed to diagnose people who are potentially carrying the virus.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the President surprised some governors who are looking for help from the federal government in terms of equipment, personnel, and financial aid to detect the virus and contain the pandemic COVID-19.

Dr. Fauci also asserted during the briefing with the governors that there are some terms in the guidelines which may seem to be inconvenient. However, he believed that this would help stop the virus. Some commented that the government is overreacting but Dr. Fauci said that this was not an overreaction.
Dr. Fauci said: "I say it over and over again: When you're dealing with an emerging infectious disease outbreak, you are always behind where you think you are."
Trump also clarified that there will be no national lockdown following the rumors that the same will happen as what Spain and Italy did.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is also calling to stop mass gatherings of more than 50 people, cancellation of air flights, and shutting down of places like bars, restaurants, stores, libraries, and museums.

If the strict guidelines of Trump's administration to combat COVID-19 will not be followed, there is no doubt that the problem will get worse. There are more than 4,000 individuals who were tested positive for coronavirus and that is out of the few Americans who were tested until today.
Moreover, U.S. health officials ordered millions in six counties in the Bay Area to stay at home. These counties include Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. Berkeley City also issued the same order.
The strict guidelines were set to help slow down the spread of the pandemic COVID-19 and to protect the most vulnerable group, those who have respiratory and chronic illnesses and the elderly, against the virus. According to an epidemiologist at Colombia University Jeffrey Shaman that in every 3,500 confirmed cases in the United States 3,500 individuals are potentially carrying the virus that remained undetected.
American policymakers have now begun taking more aggressive measures to slow down the transition like canceling events and closing restaurants to control COVID-19.
