Dr. Fauci: The Coronavirus Knows No Age
During a press conference held at the White House, Anthony Fauci pleads to America, especially the younger generation, to stay at home and stay safe. The infectious expert warns the young people that they are susceptible to the virus.
The states across the United States have imposed mandatory shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders to exercise social distancing and decrease the speed of the spread of the coronavirus. However, Anthony Fauci observes the young Americans not taking these precautions seriously.
The Party Continues
Last week, a crowd was seen partying on Miami Beach. Brady Sluder from Ohio said, "If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I'm not going to let it stop me from partying."
Spring breakers at Florida beaches and Texas South Parade also violated the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's orders to eliminate any gatherings of 50 people or even President Donald Trump's recommendation of limiting gatherings to 10 people.
During a live interview with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Fauci reached out to the young people: "Please understand that you will play a major role in ultimately containing this infection by not being careless and avoiding and listening to the recommendation of physical separation."

The Youth's Role
There are currently 62,627 cases of the coronavirus in the United States, making it the 3rd country with the most number of COVID-19 cases. Last week, US case count was at 4,000.
The coronavirus rapidly spread in epicenters like New York City. According to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York had more than 16,000 cases as of Monday morning. It is expected to further increase as the government pushes for rapid mass testing.
Fauci further warns the young people that they may be carriers of the virus, and may spread it to vulnerable parts of the country without showing any symptoms of the disease.
"You have a societal responsibility to protect the vulnerable, and you do that by not letting yourself get infected," he added.
40% of people infected by coronavirus are under the age of 54
Though most of the fatalities came from those above 65 years old, Fauci reiterated that the young Americans are at risk.
The coronavirus immensely infects people with pre-existing conditions or those older than 65 years old. However, a recent study suggests that 1/3 of US Coronavirus cases are from between 20 to 44 years old.
As of March 26, the United States recorded 68,489, 29% of which are between the ages of 20 and 44. The report also indicates the same age group contributes 20% of the total number of hospitalized infected patients with 12% being in the ICU.
