UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Tests Positive For COVID-19
Updates from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is that he tested positive for coronavirus, he is now self-isolating and he will continue to work from his home.
According to the prime minister, he said that mild symptoms of the virus were shown in 24 hours, he experienced cough and high temperature, but he would continue to serve and perform his duties and responsibilities in the government.
Prof Chris Whitty, England's Chief Medical Officer showed mild symptoms while Matt Hanock, England's health secretary, tested positive for COVID-19.
Criticisms from NHS staff for lack of testing also made the news. Only severe cases of patients are being tested for the virus. The testing for staff will only be done if he or she shows symptoms or if the staff is living with another person that has possible symptoms of coronavirus.
According to Mr. Grove, the antigen testing will be for the people who already have the disease so that social health workers will have the knowledge to secure themselves and that they can go back to their respected work if they test negative for the virus.
Groups of doctors in the British Medical Association described the situation as incredibly frustrating as there is a lack of testing and the test for the possible patients of the novel coronavirus is already long overdue.
Dr. Chaand Nagpul, the BMA Chairman said that every health member or staff that shows no symptoms can go home, rest and self-isolate as there is a potential of shortage and the NHS must provide vital care to patients on the front line.
Plans for two further hospitals in Burmingham and Manchester are underway and will also have the same protocol as the ExCel center in London.
Strict preventive measures are also being imposed by the government to further lessen, and possibly stop, the spread of the virus. But, Fergus Walsh, a medical correspondent from BBC said that the UK's death toll will continue to rise by the hundreds in the incoming weeks.
Grove also added that according to scientific studies the rate of coronavirus might still double every three to four days, but with the correct preventive measures by the public with a positive response can make a great impact in preventing the virus.
The prime minister and the health secretary also shared their feelings to the public stating that they are better protected. Grove also said that coronavirus is no respecter with the individuals, whoever they are or what they stand in life can be a great reason why they have to practice social distancing and prevent the spreading of the coronavirus.
People must practice strict measures to fight off and reduce the rate and doubling number of the infection and to reduce pressure on the NHS.
The UK Prime Minister was last seen on Thursday night giving claps nationwide for the front liners effort and service.
