They added that the markets represent more than one billion people to be potential listeners of their app who have yet to tap into their platform.

Cnet describes the movement as the biggest expansion the app has taken despite its availability in about half of the world. They add that the new markets will have the capability to sign up for free and paid Premium plans in select markets and will offer Individual, Family, Duo, and Student Plan options.

New programs

The rest of Latin America and the new market of Spotify will also enjoy new podcasts. The report added that the publisher is working on nine shows for the app, like podcasts focused on Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Batgirl, The Riddler, Superman and Louise Lane, and more.

The Verge also noted that the competition within the podcasting space has heated up over the last few years, with their competitor Marvel having a deal with Pandora. The Verge points out that Spotify and DC Comics have signed a podcasting deal last June, with their first project called Batman Unburied that tackles Bruce Wayne's psychology and its darker aspects.

Another program mentioned by The Verge to be aired on Spotify is the team-up between former president Barrack Obama and Rockstar Bruce Springsteen. Their show will be entitled Renegades: Born in the USA that will discuss race, fatherhood, marriage, and America's state. The first season will have eight episodes in total, based on the report.
