Jonathan Majors Verdict: Marvels Star Guilty of Assault, Harrassment, Now Dropped as Kang
The verdict from Jonathan Majors's sexual harassment trial has finally been given, and the Marvel star was found guilty, with consequences now happening as Disney has dropped him as Kang the Conqueror.
The New York jury of six people heard several days' worth of testimony from both sides and deliberated soon after. The deliberation lasted for four hours before finding Jonathan Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) actor is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6.
The jury did find Majors not guilty of two other charges, and they are intentional assault in the third degree and the charge of aggravated harassment in the second degree. The Marvel actor maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
As the verdicts were read, friends, loved ones, and his family, as well as his girlfriend, Meagan Good, sat behind him in the courtroom. The charges he was found guilty of a misdemeanor and a violation, and each carries a sentence of up to one year in prison, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Majors was accused of harassing and assaulting his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, after an argument between the two. Police found Jabbari injured, and this led to them arresting the actor soon after. He was soon let go, with the trial starting a few months later after several delays. The Kang actor pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Marvel Drops Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror Following Guilty Verdict on Assault, Harassment
Jonathan Majors's character in the MCU, Kang the Conqueror, was supposed to be a Thanos-level threat of a villain and the main antagonist in their planned crossover film, "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty." However, as soon as he was found guilty, Marvel announced they were dropping him from the role, and the future is now uncertain.

A Disney spokesperson spoke with Gizmodo and confirmed that the studio "will not be moving forward with Majors." As for the role of Kang, a new actor would likely be taking over the role instead, as he is the main antagonist of this current phase of the MCU.
The upcoming "Kang Dynasty" film is currently referred to as "Avengers 5," and it recently hired "Loki" writer Michael Waldron to pen the script as proceedings with Majors were ongoing.

The finale of "Loki" Season 2 also left the future of Kang the Conqueror and his variants up in the air as there is also a possibility that they might not swap out actors for a major role but completely replace Kang as the main antagonist of the next "Avengers" movie.
Deadline noted that the MCU had replaced actors for major roles before, infamously replacing Terrence Howard in the role of James Rhodes, AKA War Machine with Don Cheadle. However, with Disney now referring to the project as "Avengers 5" instead of "Kang Dynasty," the future of the role is now up in the air.
