Flavor Flav's plan to light thousands of dollars worth of illegal fireworks at his Fourth of July house party went sour after he got busted by police.

Police showed up at the 55-year-old rap veteran's Las Vegas home on Friday, July 4 after they received tips from neighbors about Flav's illegal Fourth of July fireworks show shortly after it started.

Just before 8 p.m., officers confiscated over 100 pounds of fireworks that the hip hop artist had left and issued him two fireworks-related citations, said police Lt. Ken Romaine, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Because he had so many explosives, a special unit had to be used to dispose the fireworks, said Romaine.

This is not the first time that the reality TV star, whose real name is William Drayton, has been accused of setting off illegal fireworks at his holiday party. In fact, he's been pulling the stunt since 2009.

According to TMZ, last year Flav had over $8,000 worth of fireworks, but his plot was foiled when the cops came to his home.

In previous years, neighbors said he set off the fireworks in batches and used a police scanner to avoid getting caught by law enforcement agents. Police officer Larry Hadfield says he has given Flav four fireworks citations in the valley over the past two years.

The Public Enemy rapper said his neighbors won't have to worry about his fireworks show next year because he plans to move his party elsewhere.

"I don't want to go to jail for fireworks," he said, adding that his party guest told him this year was the best Fourth of July of their life.

Drayton says that he had about 110 people over at his home, which is located in a gated community on the south side of the Las Vegas Valley.

"We all had a ball until the police came," Drayton said.
