WWE Raw Results, Spoilers for July 8: John Cena Battles MITB Winner Seth Rollins in Main Event
The July 8th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw kicked off with Roman Reigns addressing his main event Fatal Fourway bout at Battleground--where he will face WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, Randy Orton and Kane--before the "Devil's Favorite Demon" came down the ring to attack Reigns.
Officials tried to hold the two back, but Kane ate a Superman Punch for his troubles.
WWE Tag Team Champions the Usos vs. the Wyatts (non-title)
Luke Harper caught Jey Uso with a vicious Discus Lariat that nearly decapitated him after Erick Rowan broke up the sibling's attempts at a Double Suicide Dive late in the match. After Jey Uso took the pin in defeat, Jimmy Uso protested to the referee that he was the legal man in the match, not his brother Jey.
Winner: The Wyatts
One-Hand-Tied-Behind-The-Back Match: Nikki Bella vs. Alicia Fox
As punishment for inviting her sister, Brie Bella -- who was fired by Stephanie McMahon recently -- to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, Nikki Bella was forced to battle Fox with their hands tied behind their backs. But the match never got underway after Fox assaulted Bella after her hand was tied up the official, beating her down while Bella was defenseless.
Winner: no contest
Rob Van Dam vs. Rusev (with Lana)
Rusev was able to counter RVD's speed with a well-time Super Kick and sealing the victory by clamping The Accolade on Van Dam, who tapped out to take the loss.
Winner: Rusev via submission
Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton
Orton battered and bruised Ambrose, including nailing the former Shield member with a Hanging DDT off the barricade that almost cost Ambrose the match via count out. Ambrose somehow managed to get back into the ring, almost pinning "The Apex Predator" to only to eat an RKO before getting pinned by the former champion.
Winner: Randy Orton
No. 1 Contenders match, U.S. Championship: Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio
With a shot at Sheamus' United States Championship on the line, Del Rio took advantage of the distraction provided by Fandango, who was doing commentary during the match, kicking Ziggler in the head and sneaking away with the victory before Ziggler knew what hit him.
Winner and No. 1 contender of the United States Championship: Alberto Del Rio
United States Champion Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow (non-title)
After getting cold-cocked by WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart prior to the match, for his insolence of dressing up like "the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be," Sheamus made quick work of Sandow, hitting him with the Brogue Kick to end the match.
Winner: Sheamus
The Miz vs. Chris Jericho
Y2J made his in-ring debut since returning to the WWE against The Miz, punching him in the nose before taking The Miz out with The Walls of Jericho forcing Miz to tap out. After the match, Wyatt -- who was sitting in his rocking chair at the top of the ramp -- sermonized as to what he was going to do to Jericho before Y2J made his way up towards the crazy clan leader. Jericho stopped dead in his tracks after the lights went out and Luke Harper and Erick Rowan appeared standing next to their leader, forcing Jericho to rethink his violent impulses.
Winner: Chris Jericho
WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee and Paige vs. The Funkadactyls
The new divas champion and the former titleholder looked great as a tag team despite their differences, though AJ and Paige took advantage of the fact that Cameron would not tag in and help her partner, even doing her makeup in the corner of the ring while Naomi reached out for the tag. Cameron would eventually get into the match but ended up eating a Paige Turner finisher, costing her team the match. After the bout, both former partners, fed up with each other, brawled outside the ring until officials came up to break up the fight.
Winner: AJ Lee and Paige
Cesaro vs. Kofi Kingston
For a second week in a row, Kingston managed to defeat Cesaro, countering the European's strength with guile and agility, rolling up the "Swiss King of Swing" for the three-count and the victory. After the match, Cesaro again attempted to beat down Kinston, as he had done last week, but was saved by Big E before Cesaro could inflict any more damage.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Bo Dallas vs. El Torito
Dallas nailed El Torito -- who challenged the undefeated superstar -- with an elbow as the luchador attempted a Suicide Dive and ended the match by hitting El Torito with a Bo-Dog finisher for the quick win, making a Bo-Liever out of Mexican masked superstar.
Winner: Bo Dallas
WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (non-title)
Cena had his hands full against Rollins, but managed to trap "The Architect" in the STF before Kane came down the ring to distract Cena while Randy Orton jumped the champion from behind, forcing the referee to stop the match.
Roman Reigns came down to help Cena, hitting Kane with a Superman Punch and Spearing Randy Orton before Rollins struck his partner down with the MITB suitcase. Rollins then nailed Cena with the suitcase and attempted to cash in on his title shot, only to have Dean Ambrose thwart his championship ambitions yet again, attacking Rollins before he could get the match started against an unconscious Cena. As Rollins and Ambrose fought all the way back to the locker room, both Orton and Kane tried to attack the vulnerable champion before Reigns came in, Spearing Kane out of the ring and celebrating together as a sign of mutual respect to end the show.
Winner: John Cena via disqualification
