FOX 'Gotham': Pilot Preview at Comic-Con
Fans at Comic-Con were able to view a screening of the pilot for Fox's Gotham on Saturday night. According to Hollywood Reporter the pilot was heavily applauded for moments showcasing of Alfred (Sean Pertwee) and Gordon (Ben McKenzie). David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne) also appealed to fans when he said that he would like to wear the batsuit one day.
"I think Batman becomes Batman when he is 25, so hopefully this show will run until I'm 25," Mazouz joked to his fans. Robin Taylor's character appeared to be a favorite of the fans.
Other cast members and writers were present as well to give praise and express their excitement in the series.
"As an actor, you just want to get the best material possible," said Robin Taylor, who will be playing the Penguin. "When I come to set and look at what we're doing for the day, and I see what's written ... I feel like I am just stepping into something amazing."
HitFix reported on a panel, which included DC Entertainment screen writer Bruno Heller's answer to a question about where the idea for Gotham came from.
"Origin stories are my favorite part of the mythologies of the DC Universe," Heller said. He said that it was natural to start with the beginning and asked "What is more iconic and seminal than the death of the Waynes?"
McKenzie also spoke of his enthusiasm and the dynamic of the series.
"Harvey knows how the city works and Jim believes he knows how the city ought to work and between those worlds is Gotham," he said.
The Daily Mail reports that McKenzie also took his promoting of the series to a whole new level on Sunday. He zip-lined into the convention in front of a cut out of the city of Gotham alongside co-star Erin Richards.
Gotham is set to air on Fox Sept. 22 and will follow Commissioner James Gordon as he investigates Gotham's highest-profile murder case: the murder ofBruce Wayne's billionaire parents.
