Trade rumors are swirling with the 2014 Major League Baseball trade deadline is less than 24 hours away. Many people feel the most important position is the pitcher, and a lot of big names throughout the league are on the trade block as teams gear up in the arms race with the playoffs coming up this fall.

Here are some of the pitchers who could be traded:

1. Jon Lester

Lester is the biggest name on the trade block and, according to Tim Kurkjian of ESPN, there's is a "very good chance" that he will be traded. The Boston Red Sox scratched Lester from his scheduled Wednesday start against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Perhaps because of a future trade?

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the front runners for Lester. Historically, the Dodgers and Red Sox have done great business deals with each other--Manny Ramirez being a prime example.

2. Bartolo Colón

The Dominican Republic-born Colón has certainly seen his share of professional ball parks. The 41-year-old veteran has played for nine different teams and is currently with the New York Mets. He is just one win away from the 200 win club and is a former Cy Young award winner.

Colón is obviously past his prime, but he's shown many times that he can adjust to playing on different teams. The Mets are 51-56, good enough for fourth place in the National League East.

3. David Price

The Tampa Bay Rays are in a bit of a difficult situation here. After looking to be dead Rays in the water, the team has now won nine of their last 10 games to pull back into the American League East and AL Wild Card race. Trading away Price looked to be a foregone conclusion, but with the Rays on a winning streak, they may keep him after all.

The Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers have been in the mix, but it doesn't look like the 28-year-old ace is going anywhere. Luckily for baseball fans, we will probably get to see more classic David Ortiz-David Price rivalry moments.

4. Andrew Miller

If you need a middle relief pitcher, give the Red Sox a call. Miller isn't exactly Mariano Rivera, but he is a consistent young pitcher. Miller's earned run against averaged has deceased the last five years in a row. The Kansas City Royals have been contacting the Red Sox about acquiring the talented left hander.

5. Cole Hamels

The Red Sox aren't the only team cleaning house. The Philadelphia Phillies are planning a huge rebuilding period. With Ryan Howard unable to return to All-Star form since his leg injury, they have no choice. The Phillies are 47-60 as of Wednesday, good enough for dead last in the NL East.

The Phillies are "asking the world" for Hamels, and the New York Yankees, Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals have all been in the Hamels mix.
