Netflix to Air Comedy Specials Featuring Chelsea Handler, Bill Cosby, Bill Burr and More
Netflix's fall season lineup will include five comedy specials from comedians Bill Cosby, Bill Burr, Jim Jeffries Chelsea Peretti, and Chelsea Handler, International Digital Times reports.
According to IDT, Netflix's comedy special lineup comes as an attempt to not only expand Netflix's brand, but to eventually become the next HBO.
Comedy special lineups have primarily been linked to HBO. However, Netflix is aiming to take the throne.
"Jim Jefferies, Chelsea Handler, Bill Cosby, Bill Burr and Chelsea Peretti are some of the funniest comedians of our time who will have our viewers in stitches," Lisa Nishimura, vice president of original documentary and comedy programming at Netflix, said in a release obtained by IDT. "We are thrilled to bring this diverse slate of talent and their unique, multi-faceted and hilarious points of view exclusively to our members around the world."
Jim Jeffries' comedy special "Bare" will premiere on Netflix on Aug. 29. "Bare" showcases Jeffries' views and insights "on everything from politics, new fatherhood, orgies and Neil Diamonds," reads the Netflix release.
Next on the lineup is Chelsea Handler's "Uganda Be Kidding Me" that premieres Oct. 10. Handler's comedy special showcases her trip to Uganda and touches on various topics such as "her unabashed opinions on everything from what she expects from sexual partners to the problem of dolphin rape."
On Nov. 14, fans can look forward to Chelsea Peretti's comedy special, "One of the Greats" that displays Peretti's many talents including acting, standup, writing, and motorcycling.
Bill Cosby's comedy special "Bill Cosby 77" premieres Nov. 28 and will feature the legendary comedian "discussing his favorite topics, relationships, marriage and, children."
Lastly but not least, Netflix's comedy special line-up concludes with Bill Burr's "I'm sorry you feel that Way" which premieres Dec. 5. Burrs' special will discuss various unique topics such as "how nothing ruins great sex like a rom-com and how too many childhood hugs could be the downfall of man."
