Fans of Fox's long running series "Bones" can expect to see new plots, foils and a brand new Booth when the show kicks off season number 10 season this fall.

In season nine's blowout finale, Booth and Brennan's home was destroyed in a hail of gunfire while Booth was framed and ended up being falsely arrested for murdering three federal agents.

During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, execute producer Stephen Nathan opened up about what viewers can expect in the upcoming season.

Season 10 will start four months from where the finale left off, with Booth still in prison and Brennan desperately working to set him free, said Nathan, according to BuddyTV. However, Booth and Brennan will face are "huge ramifications," both practically and emotionally.

"Here are two characters who have spent the previous seven or eight years coming together as a couple, and here they are torn apart. So it's really yet another test of the strength of this relationship," said the EP.

Nathan went on to suggest that Booth will have a tough time dealing with the situation because he "has never been betrayed by an institution that he not only trusted, but has risked his life for." As a result, he doesn't know where to turn or who to trust.

Meanwhile, Brennan also has difficulty coping with the issue at hand. While Booth was locked in prison, she's been working tirelessly for the last four months to get him out, he said. However, they will finally hit a tipping point when they discover a dead body that helps them unravel a conspiracy that has been going on for decades.

"This is Christmas morning for Hodgins," a conspiracy theorist who suddenly finds himself in the middle of this conspiracy, said Nathan, adding that his character will be paramount in the first few episodes, .

Despite the grim circumstances, the showrunner promised that "Bones will stay true to its nature and still manage to incorporate humor no matter how dark the circumstances appear.

He also teased that Booth will eventually go back to work, without detailing exactly how that will happen.

According to CarterMatt.com, "Bones" released a synopsis of the upcoming season, which reads:

"Season 10 will begin with Brennan and the squints desperately trying to get Booth out of jail, clear his name and absolve him of crimes he did not commit. They know the only way to do this is to finish what Booth started and uncover who is behind the conspiracy at the FBI. Throughout this ordeal, Brennan and Booth both will wrestle with the decisions they made on their biggest case yet - decisions that will test their relationship, as well as their careers."

"Bones" Season 10 premieres Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
