Fantasy Football 2014 Rankings, Sleepers & Week 2 Waiver Wire: Top 5 NFL Players to Pick Up This Week
By now, you've already picked and selected your Fantasy Football team.
Whether or not you had a successful Week 1, you should always be looking to add free agent players. Matchups are key, and there's no shame in resting players you drafted for free agent additions.
Here, we will list the top five NFL players you should think about adding for Week 2 on your Fantasy Football team:
5. Allen Hurns
The undrafted wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars had a great game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He caught four balls for 110 yards and two touchdowns, in Philadelphia. Not a bad debut. It's extremely unlikely you drafted him on your fantasy team.
Hurns and the Jaguars play their next game against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins defense played great in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, but that was against a terrible offense.
4. Steve Smith
The Baltimore Ravens' Steve Smith showed on Sunday he can still play and grab the deep ball. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Smith had 118 yards and an incredible 80-yard touchdown. Most importantly for fantasy owners, he was targeted 15 times.
Joe Flacco isn't the most accurate quarterback, but he does throw the deep ball very well. The Ravens will be taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday at home, and Smith will be the go to guy. With no reliable run game set in place, the Ravens will be passing the ball a lot. Flacco and the Ravens offense passed the ball 62 times in Week 1.
3. Texans Defense
J.J. Watt's performance in Week 1 for the Houston Texans was one of the most memorable season openers ever. Watt can do everything: rush the quarterback, stop the run and deflect passes at the line of scrimmage. The Texans defense didn't go very high in many fantasy drafts.
The Texans face the Oakland Raiders in Week 2. The Raiders don't have a reliable running game or a proven quarterback. In Week 1 against the New York Jets, the Raiders ran for just 25 totals yards. The Texans defense could be a huge steal for Week 2.
2. Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill is a proven quarterback who continues to improve. If and when his offensive line gives him time to pass, he's shown he can make all the throws. Next week, Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins will face the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills did defeat the Chicago Bears in Week 1, but facing Tannehill without free safety Jairus Byrd could equal a great fantasy day for Tannehill.
1. Jake Locker
The Tennessee Titans had an impressive 26-10 victory in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jake Locker, a former No. 8 overall draft pick has been improving over the years. He hasn't played like a first round pick because of injuries and a sub-par team around him, but he could be worth an addition for week two.
Locker and the Titans will face the Dallas Cowboys next week in Tennessee. The Cowboys defense did not force a single turnover against the San Francisco 49ers at home in week one. On the other hand, Locker was able to go into Kansas City and pass for 266 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
