Don Omar's House Arrest Modified; Singer Allowed Out of Home For Work
Don Omar was supposed to be confined just to his home, but a judge has modified the terms of his house arrest.
The reggaeton singer is now allowed to leave his house Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, he will have to remain at home.
Though Don Omar showed up to the court hearing on Monday, his ex-girlfriend Rebeca Lopez did not. The case, which stems from a domestic violence dispute between the two, has been rescheduled for Oct. 14.
The singer has tried to remain positive on his social media account.
"I have the capacity to leave everything behind without holding back, without holding grudges," he said. "Well, the only thing I am certain of is that the best is yet to come."
Lopez was supposed to show up at the hearing, according to Jose Virella of Bayamon.
"She has to be there on Sept. 29 because she was cited by the tribunal," he said. "The interest of the state is to continue with the case, and we have evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt."
Lopez wanted to drop charges, but the state said the case would still move forward.
There were rumors that Lopez decided to withdraw her claims because she was paid $350,000.
Don Omar was released on a $600,000 bail, and he was charged with two counts of threatening a person and two counts of weapons violation.
Lopez previously posted a letter on social media, where she said that she forgave the singer.
Before going to Washington, D.C., she explained that she has lived "moments of happiness and sadness" but none compared to the experience she was currently living.
"I met a man that I will always love," she said. "By his side, I have shared great and not so great moments."
