NFL Sunday Night Football Schedule & Predictions: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles [Poll]
One of the oldest rivalries in National Football League history gets renewed on Sunday Night Football.
The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles will face each other on Sunday Night at 8:30 p.m. EST. This NFC East rivalry has been played since the 1930s.
Latin Post previews the game and predicts a winner:
New York Giants
The New York Giants got off to a rough 0-2 start after losses to the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions. Fortunately for the Giants, they are currently riding a three-game win streak with wins over the Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins. At 3-2, the Giants are right in the thick of things.
Head coach Tom Coughlin has this team playing great right now, and quarterback Eli Manning is playing terrific. Over the last three games, Manning has eight touchdowns to just one interception. Victor Cruz and Larry Donnell have been Manning's favorite targets this season.
Running back Rashad Jennings has been a great addition, but he won't be playing Sunday. Jennings has 396 rushing yards, and a 4.4 yard per carry average, but a knee injury will prohibit him from playing. Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo appears to finally be adjusting to this Giants offense.
Only time will tell if this new and improved Giants secondary can contain the Eagles passing attack.
Philadelphia Eagles
At 4-1, the Philadelphia Eagles are tied for first place in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Chip Kelly has this fast-paced offense flying down the field every week. The Eagles offense is constantly compared to the explosive offense of the '90s Buffalo Bills led by Jim Kelly, because of the style of play.
Quarterback Nick Foles hasn't played nearly as good as he did last season, but the young quarterback is still having a good year. The biggest surprise on the Eagles team has been LeSean McCoy. The star running back is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry this season. Last year, McCoy was the league's leading rusher with 1,607 yards.
Even though McCoy is off to a slow start, Darren Sproles has been hot. Even as a running back, Sproles has nearly 200 receiving yards thus far, and his punt returning skills can't be overlooked at any moment.
Cutting ties with DeSean Jackson hasn't had a terrible impact, as many people thought it would. Still, the Eagles don't have the same deep threat as they did last season. The Eagles and Kelly have to make sure they keep a balanced attack and control the clock.
Schedule
The Giants and Eagles are schedule to kick off on Sunday Night at 8:30 p.m. EST at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game will be shown on NBC. Live stream coverage of the game can be seen here.
Predictions
The Eagles and Giants almost always play one another tough. Football fans should get a close NFC East battle, but the loss of Jennings might be too much. Playing at home will certainly favor the Eagles, while the Giants host the Eagles come Week 17.
Eagles win 24-20
