NFL Monday Night Football Schedule & Predictions: Indianapolis Colts at New York Giants [Poll]
It's time to party like it's 1958 as the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts square off against each other on the Nov. 3 edition of NFL Monday Night Football in a rematch of the classic 1958 NFL title game between these two storied franchises.
"Monday Night Football" usually gives fans an exciting game between two great teams. This week, we get to watch two historic franchises play each other at MetLife Stadium. These two teams have a long history with one another, going back to the famous 1958 Championship Game with Johnny Unitas.
Let's see who has the edge in this game:
New York Giants (3-4)
The Giants find themselves 3-4 after back-to-back division losses. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles lead the NFC East with six victories, and the Giants know this is a must-win game. This Giants squad had a bye week last week, so they should be more ready and prepared than ever to play.
Quarterback Eli Manning has been playing very well this season with 14 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Manning has thrown just one interception in the last five games. Although Manning has been playing well this year, the offense has many issues. Running back Rashad Jennings will not be playing and wide receiver Victor Cruz is out for the season. The Giants offense ranks 22nd in yards and 21st in points this season so far.
Larry Donnell has been a bright spot on this Giants offense. The undrafted tight end has 332 yards receiving and a team-leading four touchdowns. Defensively, the Giants are getting sacks, but they continue to give up big plays on third down. Jason Pierre-Paul leads the team with 3.5 sacks this season. Next week, the Giants will have to play the Seattle Seahawks at Century Link Field.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is listed as questionable this season.
Indianapolis Colts (5-3)
After losing their first two games of the season, the Colts have won five of their last six games. At 5-3, the Colts are in first place in the AFC South division. As a matter of fact, they're the only team with a winning record in the AFC South. The Colts did lose last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers by 17 points, but Andrew Luck usually bounces back after a loss.
Luck has 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. On the positive side, his career high is 23 touchdowns for a single season. On the negative side, Luck threw nine interceptions all of last season. Regardless of the turnovers, the Colts go as Luck does. Ahmad Bradshaw and Trent Richardson lead the running game, both having over 350 rushing yards this season. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is playing incredible this season so far with 866 yards through the air.
Even though defensive end Robert Mathis is out, the Colts defensive line is playing well. D'Qwell Jackson, Bjoern Werner and Erik Walden have been playing great at the line of scrimmage, with the exception of the 51-34 defeat last week to the Steelers.
Schedule, Where to Watch
The New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts will play each other at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Monday, Nov. 3. The game will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. You can view a live game stream here.
Predictions
Both teams are very much in need of a win. The Colts are coming off a terrible loss to the Steelers, and the Giants can't afford to lose three games in a row. There's a good chance we will see this game come down to the wire, with a final potential game-winning drive. Both Manning and Luck have proven to be extremely capable of doing just that over the years. Giants should be able to defend their home field and get the win.
Giants win 27-24
