NFL Week 10 Schedule, Preview & Predictions: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills [Poll]
In a game rife with NFL playoffs implications, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will face each other Sunday in an NFL Week 10 match-up.
These two teams are both 5-3 this season, and playoff implications couldn't be higher. Playoff spots are limited to just six teams in each conference, and both the Chiefs and Bills are fighting for a spot in the AFC.
Let's see who has the advantage in this game:
Kansas City Chiefs (5-3)
The Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since Joe Montana was their quarterback in 1993. Management has made a lot of changes lately, bringing in Andy Reid to coach and Alex Smith to throw. Lately, it has paid off, as the two have a 16-8 record since coming to Kansas City.
Kansas City sports fans are hoping their football team can duplicate the same magic as their baseball team recently did.
The Chiefs began the season 0-2, and many NFL experts had their doubts on whether or not this team was legit. After losing their first two games of the season, the Chiefs have won five of their last six games. The only loss for the Chiefs in the process was to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.
The running back duo of Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis has been the best in the league this season. Charles and Davis have a combined 845 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season. These two are reminding football fans of the famous Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris combination with the 1970s Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs running game has produced the second most touchdowns in the NFL this season.
The Chiefs defense has been just as impressive. Thanks to Justin Houston and Tamba Hali, the Chiefs have allowed the second fewest points in the league this season. Houston has recorded a sack in seven of eight games this season. The Chiefs also have the No. 1 overall pass defense in the league.
The Chiefs won't be playing at Arrowhead, but they are fully capable of winning road games. This season the Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers on the road.
Buffalo Bills (5-3)
The Bills haven't made the postseason even once in the 21st century. Since 2000, the Bills have had just one winning season; the 2004 season in which they went 9-7. In other words, it's been a tough ride without Jim Kelly and the famous Bills team of the 1990s.
This Bills team is trying to end the longest playoff drought in the NFL, and their defense is leading the way. The Bills defense ranks eighth overall in yards against and seventh overall in points against. Former No. 1 overall draft pick Mario Williams has a team-leading six sacks this season, and Leodis McKelvin is playing like a shutdown corner.
Offensively, the Bills struggled early on, but made adjustments. Quarterback E.J. Manuel has been benched, and Kyle Orton has been playing great in his place. Orton has nine touchdowns and three interceptions in his four games as the Bills starting quarterback and has a 3-1 record this season. Orton also had a game-winning drive against the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
Running back C.J. Spiller will not be playing because of collarbone injury, but rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins has helped the offense compete in every game. Watkins has 590 receiving yards this season and five touchdowns. There's a good chance we will see Watkins get this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
After this game the Bills play the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, two divisional opponents.
Schedule
The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will play each other on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. EST. The game will be played at the Ralph Wilson Stadium in New York. The game will be televised on CBS, and fans can view a live game stream here.
Predictions
Both of these teams know how important this game is, and both teams have a great defense. Quarterback Alex Smith has to outplay Kyle Orton, and prove to people he really is worthy of that big contract. Dwayne Bowe (who still has zero touchdowns) and Travis Kelce have to play great, as well. If the Chiefs elite pass rush can get to Orton, they will stop the vertical passing game.
Chiefs win 24-20
