Oakland Raiders NFL Schedule, Roster & News: Will Team Go 0-16? (POLL)
The Oakland Raiders are playing terrible. No, they're playing horrendous.
Better yet, horrifyingly awful on the football field. At 0-9, the Raiders are the only winless team remaining in the NFL.
Even though seven games are remaining in the season, many football fans believe this team will not win a single game and finish 0-16. If the Raiders do so, they will join the 2008 Detroit Lions and the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the only teams to go winless for an entire NFL season in the Super Bowl era.
The 1976 Buccaneers were an expansion team, so we can cut them a little bit of a break. Sorry Detroit, no excuses.
This year's Raiders squad ranks near the bottom in almost every category imaginable. Offensively, the Raiders rank dead last in yards gained and 30th overall in points scored. The Raiders' rushing attack also ranks last in the NFL in yards and touchdowns scored. The Raiders have scored just two rushing touchdowns this entire season, both from Darren McFadden. The Raiders' passing attack ranks 24th overall.
The defense hasn't been much better.
Defensively, the Raiders ranks 28th in yards given up in the entire league and rank 27th in rushing yards allowed. The No. 1 brightest spot on this Raiders team (statistically speaking) has been their pass defense, which ranks 18th overall.
In other words, the Raiders have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball and in the front office.
With seven games remaining, the Raiders have already played the easier part of their schedule. The Raiders have already faced the Houston Texans, New York Jets and the New England Patriots when they were struggling. Things won't get any easier down the stretch, especially with the temperatures dropping.
The Raiders remaining schedule is as follows:
Week 11 at San Diego Chargers
Week 12 Kansas City Chiefs
Week 13 at St. Louis Rams
Week 14 San Francisco 49ers
Week 15 at Kansas City Chiefs
Week 16 Buffalo Bills
Week 17 at Denver Broncos
The biggest game that jumps out there is Week 13 against the Rams. The Rams are just 3-6, and starting quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the season, again. Everyone else on the Raiders schedule has a winning record. There is a chance that the Raiders could steal a victory in Week 12 at home against the Chiefs. Even though the Chiefs are playing great at 6-3, this is an all-time great rivalry, and anything can happen.
What makes the Raiders' road to a single victory so difficult is the division they play in. The AFC West (outside of the Raiders) has a combined 18-9 record. The Raiders also have to play the tough NFC West division, as well.
The Raiders haven't scored 30 points in a single game this season and have scored more than 20 just twice this year.
Second round draft pick quarterback Derek Carr has played average this season, but he doesn't have a great offensive line in front of him or a reliable run game.
