Lynn Bynes, mother of troubled star Amanda Bynes, recently voiced her frustration over how the media had been handling her daughter's difficulties, reports People.

The Bynes family had been silent over the struggle of the former Nickelodeon star, until now. Mother Lynn cautions, "Almost 99 percent of the things written about my daughter in various media outlets are false or misleading."

Lynn Bynes told People, "Unless it's a statement issued by our family attorney, Tamar Arminak, please take everything you read about Amanda with a grain of salt. Please know that neither myself or other family members have ever released any information regarding her treatment or diagnosis. We truly believe in keeping our daughter's situation private for now."

The 27-year-old actress had been placed under temporary conservatorship of parents Lynn and Rick after an incident in July, when Amanda reportedly ignited a small fire in a stranger's driveway in California, near her parents' home. The granted conservatorship allows the Bynes couple to oversee their troubled daughter's financial and legal affairs.

Bynes was scheduled to appear in court for her DUI case September 24, but her lawyer declared a 1368 PC [Penal Code] hearing to declare a doubt to mental competency, according to Fox News. As a result, her case had been moved to a mental health court. The "Hairspray" actress is also facing marijuana possession charges in New York, reports Reuters.

Amanda's parents have not been safe against their daughter's rants in social media early this year. Amanda tweeted in May, "I am suing them for money laundering/unethical manager work, I never signed a contract with them, and they had been stealing my money without me knowing, claiming they were managing me somehow when they have no right to act as if they did anything to help or enhance my career and I want $ back that I earned on my own. I'm 27 and don't like when press talks to my parents. My parents are almost 70 years old. We are no longer on speaking terms. I would rather them be homeless than live off of my money," according to Star Pulse.com.

Despite the tweet incident however, Lynn and Rick appear to have taken no offense, or have forgiven their daughter. Lynn said, "Both my husband and I love Amanda very much and we know that she will get through this situation," reports ABC News.

The "Easy A" actress had been transferred from the UCLA Medical Center to a Malibu facility for her psychiatric treatment.
