Bill Cosby Rape Allegations: Comedian's Walk of Fame Star Repaired After it Is Defaced With the Word 'Rapist'
Repair crews in Los Angeles cleaned Bill Cosby's Walk of Fame star Friday, removing the word "Rapist," which a vandal had scrawled three times over the comedian's marker, Rumorfix said.
The star, which is on the floor at 6930 Hollywood Blvd., was defaced with purple marker, and the incident occurred amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against Cosby, the Huffington Post added.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk, earlier had condemned the vandalization, according to the Variety.
"The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an institution celebrating the positive contributions of the inductees," the business group told the publication. "When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California State landmark."
Workers used high-speed sander to remove the writing before scrubbing and sealing Cosby's star, Rumorfix said.
Nearly a dozen women had accused Cosby of "assaulting them in some form," the Huffington Post recalled. While some of the allegations date back years, several of the women have come forward in recent weeks.
In late November, the wife of actor Lou Ferrigno, Carla, alleged that Cosby attacked her in his home in 1967 and tried to force himself on her. She managed to escape, Ferrigno added.
"He walked over to me and grabbed me, pulls me really tight to him, kisses me on the mouth, like really really rough," Ferrigno told the KFI radio station, according to the Huffington Post. "And I just took my hands and I pushed him away."
Cosby has refused to publicly address the allegations, but he fiercely denied them through his lawyer, Martin D. Singer .
"This continuing pattern of attacks on Mr. Cosby has entered the realm of the ridiculous, with a purported 'forceful kiss' at a party in 1967 -- nearly 50 years ago -- being treated as a current 'news story' and grossly mischaracterized as a 'sexual assault,'" the attorney said. "This is utter nonsense."
Cosby had been honored with one of the about 2,500 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars in 1977, Rumorfix detailed. The Hollywood Walk of Fame honors achievements in the entertainment industry; its inductees include, among others, actors, musicians, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, and fictional characters.
