Azealia Banks Twitter: 'Fancy' Rapper Iggy Azalea Calls Banks a 'Bigot' & Says She's Not Succeeding Because of Her Bad Attitude [Watch]
On Friday, Iggy Azalea slammed Azealia Banks on Twitter following Banks' Hot 97 interview. Banks expressed her thoughts on a wide range of topics including her opinion that Azalea's rap career is an example of the appropriation of black culture.
"OK, so here's the thing with Iggy Azalea. I feel like, in this country, whenever it comes to our things like black issues or black politics or black music or whatever, there's always this like undercurrent of like 'f--k you' ... and that Iggy Azalea s--t is not better than any f-ckin' black girl that's rapping today. ... Iggy Azalea is not excellent," Banks said about the "Black Widow" rapper during her hot 97 interview.
Later in the interview, Banks became visibly emotional and suggested that Azalea's music is not a true representation of authentic hip-hop music.
"Put [Iggy] in the pop category," Banks said. "Put her with Katy Perry, put her and Miley Cyrus in the same f-ckin' box together, don't put her in hip-hop."
