And then, there were 12.

The season began with 32 teams, but just 12 of those teams remain for a chance to win the Super Bowl. In the NFC, just six teams will be playing for that exclusive opportunity.

The final regular season standings in the NFC are:

1. Seattle Seahawks
2. Green Bay Packers
3. Dallas Cowboys
4. Carolina Panthers
5. Arizona Cardinals
6. Detroit Lions

As we all know, the top two seeds will get a bye week. The No. 3 seed will play the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed will play the No. 5 seed.

Latin Post.com previews every NFC game scheduled for the Wild Card round:

(6) Lions at (3) Cowboys

As expected, the Lions couldn't defeat the Green Packers in Week 17 at Lambeau Field, thus dropping them all the way to the No. 6 spot. The Lions will not be playing anymore home games this season. The last time the Lions won a playoff game was 1991, which came against the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have been one of the hottest teams in the league recently, winning every game in December. This will be the first career playoff games for Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray. Watching the Cowboys' high-powered rushing attack against the Lions strong defensive line will be biggest thing to keep an eye on in this game.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has never won a single road game against a team with a winning record in his career. A win here would certainly prove the doubters wrong. If the Lions win this game, they will face the Seattle Seahawks in the next round. If the Cowboys win, they will face the Green Bay Packers next round.

Schedule: The Cowboys and Lions will play each other on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at 4:40 p.m. EST on FOX. The game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

(5) Cardinals at (4) Panthers

The Panthers may have won just seven games, but they didn't back into the playoffs. The Panthers won their last four consecutive games to close out the season and got a huge victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17 to clinch the NFC South. This is the second consecutive season that the Falcons have won the NFC South, and the first time that has ever happened.

While the Panthers are rising, the Cardinals are falling. For nearly the entire season, the Cardinals were the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and they had their eyes set on a Super Bowl with home field advantage. But, quarterback problems and a tough schedule set in, and the Cardinals lost four of their last six games. Getting swept by the Seahawks and constant injuries on offense cost the Cardinals the NFC West title.

If the Cardinals are going to beat the Panthers, they have to continue to play great defense and win a low scoring game. Kick every field goal possible. For the Panthers, continue to ride this winning streak. Cam Newton is a mobile quarterback who can give the Cardinals problems.

Schedule: The Cardinals and Panthers will play each other on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4:35 p.m. EST on ESPN. The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
