Drake 'Nothing Was the Same' Tour Dates 2013: Philadelphia Fans Disappointed As Second Night of Tour Canceled
Drake's new tour, "Would You Like a Tour," has fallen to its second controversy. This time, the rapper disappointed fans when he canceled the second show on his tour an hour after it was scheduled to begin.
Saturday night, Drake was scheduled to perform with Future and Miguel at the Wells Fargo Center. The show was supposed to begin at 7 p.m. Fans were already packed into the arena when at 8:30 p.m. they learned that the show was off.
Rebecca Goodman, a spokeswoman for Wells Fargo Center, released a statement.
"Due to the elaborate nature of tonight's show and an unexpected mechanical issue, Drake's 'Would You Like A Tour' concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia has been postponed until Wednesday, December 18," the statement said.
Drake fans were not the only ones surprised by the abrupt cancelation. Apparently, Miguel was not even notified ahead of time that he was no longer performing Saturday night.
"Man, just found out, unfortunately tonight's show in Philly is cancelled. Can't wait to find out the rescheduled date and come back and rock," the singer said via Twitter at 8:35 p.m. Saturday night.
For Miguel, however, the show must go on. According to Rolling Stone, the Grammy award-winner held an impromptu make-up performance at a different location in Philadelphia.
The new concert will honor original tickets and parking receipts, Philly.com reports.
The night before, Drake started off his tour successfully. His tour's first show featured a surprise performance by Wiz Khalifa, and the feud between Future and Drake seemed to be over as, according to HotNewHipHop, Future came out for three songs during Drake's set.
Drake's next show will be on Oct. 21 in Montreal, assuming technical issues don't arise again.
