Well, the New York Yankees haven't exactly been making the most lucrative moves this offseason.

Their American League East rivals, the Boston Red Sox, recently swiped Yoan Moncada from under them and the Pinstripes still have other issues.

Outside of hitting, the Yankees weren't very impressive last season on the mound, ranking 18th overall in team ERA, 19th in shutouts, and 16th in opponent batting average. CC Sabathia doesn't show much promise, and the Yankees need to some insurance plans.

Look no further than free agency, Latino free agents, specifically. There are still many notable free agent pitchers on the board. Here are five free agent Latin American-born pitchers the Yankees could consider signing:

1. Rafael Soriano

It's pretty surprising that Rafael Soriano is still a free agent. The 35-year-old Dominican closer is one of the most underrated relief pitchers in all of baseball. He was phenomenal in 2010 with the Tampa Bay Rays, leading the American League in saves with 45, thus winning the "Rolaids Relief Man Award." Soriano has recorded at least 30 saves in four of the last five seasons, including a 32-save season last year. In 2012, Soriano recorded 42 saves for the Yankees.

Mariano Rivera isn't walking through that door.

2. Edgar Gonzalez

Who? Okay not as a starter, which Edgar Gonzalez has played his whole career, but as a situational pitcher. Gonzalez obviously isn't going to come in and become the next Whitey Ford, but he does have a lot of experience. Gonzalez has pitched 368 innings in his MLB career, and he still averages 5.8 strikeouts per nine innings. Manager Joe Girardi may want to consider bringing Gonzalez on board for a month or two and see what he has left on his slider. If Gonzalez still shows a good break in his change-up, they could use him in the bullpen. No risk, possible reward for the Yankees.

3. Yadier Alvarez

While everyone is focusing on Cuban hitters, Yoan Moncada and Hector Olivera, Yadier Alvarez is by far the best pitcher coming out of Cuba who is seeking an MLB career. Still just 18 years old, Alvarez could be a jackpot if the Yankees get their hands on him long-term. Alvarez will not be able to play in the majors this upcoming season because he is not yet 23 years old and he hasn't played in a Cuban professional league for five seasons. Regardless, Alvarez will see out his dream in the majors eventually. Alvarez is a high velocity fastball pitcher who many teams are interested in.

4. Luis Ayala

Luis Ayala is a veteran pitcher who could add some quality depth to the Yankees rotation. The Mexican right-hander pitched for the Yankees in 2011, and did very well. That season, Ayala posted a 2.09 earned runs against average. Ayala is a good strikeout pitcher that the Yankees could use as a possible middle reliever. No, he won't win any Cy Young Awards, but he has the experience that the Yankees could use this upcoming season, and his career ERA is a modest 3.34.

5. Raul Valdes

As a last resort, the Yankees could consider Raul Valdes, who actually signed with the Yankees in 2011 but only pitched 6.2 innings for them that season. Currently, a member of the Chunichi Dragons in Japan, Valdes is an experienced Cuban pitcher who get a lot of strikeouts in a short amount of time. He won't propel the Yankees to an AL East title, but he can provide some fastball depth to the middle of the rotation for at least 30 to 50 innings this upcoming season.
